U.S. Emergency Food Aid to Romania - 1947

Perhaps forgotten is that the United States offered emergency food aid to Romania in 1947. This was destined principally for northern Moldavia where severe shortages were causing famine conditions. The payment method is interesting: "15 tons of gold of German origin".
