Details of 1926 Visit

This very special anniversary celebrates Queen Marie's 1926 visit to Portland, Oregon and the dedication of the Maryhill Museum above the Columbia River by her host Mr. Sam Hill. She donated a collection of personal and Royal treasures for all to see and appreciate for generations to come. Queen Marie made a highly publicized and acclaimed trans-continental train voyage. At the Museum she anchored a piece of Romania's heart and tradition here in the Pacific Northwest, where many of us now find ourselves living, growing and contributing as a Romanian-American community.

Queen Marie was a true Queen of the people - when she became Queen of Romania, she truly embraced in her heart the place, the people and the traditions of the country.

Thank you for your support of our Romanian history and presence here in the United States. Appreciate wholeheartedly your participation at this celebratory event for Romania!!

If you are able to attend, please confirm.
There are additional community events May 18-22 including from celebratory event Celebratory Reception at the Multnomah Hotel (Portland) where Queen Marie was hosted in 1926. Attending will be the Oregon Governor, thePortland Mayor, national and local dignitary meetings and a number of Romanian community meetings.
