Cristina Bejan Interviewed by the Rhodes Trust – Alianta – Strengthening the Romanian American Alliance

This June, Alianta Board of Advisors member Cristina Bejan was interviewed by the Rhodes Trust, as an alumna. The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity which supports exceptional students from around the world to study at the University of Oxford.

Cristina got the chance to speak about her father, Adrian Bejan and his contributions to the Romanian community.

Adrian Bejan, the 2015 Alianta Gala Honoree, is one of the most distinguished Romanian American minds in the field of Mechanical Engineering. A pioneer in the effort to unite art and science in a single discipline, Professor Bejan’s work at Duke University has put him among the world’s leading experts in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.

He is ranked among the top 0.01% of the most cited and impactful world scientists (and top 10 in Engineering world wide) in the 2019 citations impact database created by Stanford University’s John Ioannidis, in PLoS Biology. He is the author of 30 books and 685 peer-referred articles. His h-index is 101 with 79,000 citations on Google Scholar. He received 18 honorary doctorates from universities in 11 countries.

The interview gives an intimate glimpse of the man behind the scientist, in the context of the long journey he and his family had to take from Communist Romania to becoming part of America’s top thinkers.
