Ambassador George-Cristian Maior Receives Alianta Spirit Award

Alianţa recently granted Ambassador George Maior the Alianţa Spirit Award during an event honoring his years of service as Romania's ambassador to the United States. The award recognizes Mr. Maior's leadership in strengthening the US-Romanian relationship during his tenure.

Alianţa Board Chair, Ambassador Jim Rosapepe (Ret.) presented the award to Ambassador Maior in a small ceremony and remarked that "George played the kind of role that you want ambassadors to play, which is to be a very strong Advocate of their country and very perceptive, strategic, savvy partners of the country to which they are the Ambassador. And that is what George has done here during Five years. I want to just personally thank George for his leadership. It set a precedent that I hope will be continued for many, many years to come with the Romanian Embassy in Washington. It also embodies what Alianţa is all about. We are thrilled to have him amongst our honorees."

George Cristian Maior has been Romania’s ambassador to the US from 2015 until 2021. He is a career diplomat and a university professor and PhD coordinator at the Department of International Relations and European Integration within the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest. He published a great number of articles and books covering topics from human rights and public law to international relations, strategic thinking, security and intelligence studies.
