Over the past two years, these commitments have been challenged by anti-Western narratives and coordinated influence efforts seeking to erode trust in democratic institutions and redirect public sentiment away from Romania’s Euro-Atlantic alignment.
During this period, Mihai Gâdea, Director and Host of Antena 3 CNN, has used his platform to challenge disinformation, clarify complex geopolitical developments, and reinforce the principles that anchor Romania in the Western community. His reporting has provided factual context at pivotal moments, helping audiences distinguish between legitimate public debate and foreign-backed manipulation. Importantly, he has been able to reach audiences well outside the usual pro-Western or civic-engaged bubbles - people who often do not follow the journalists and platforms typically trusted in these circles. In moments when bridging information gaps mattered most, he helped broaden the conversation and bring essential facts to segments of the public that might otherwise have remained vulnerable to manipulation.
Gâdea’s coverage has addressed the growing volume of misinformation targeting Romania, including narratives linked to Russian influence operations during electoral cycles and periods of heightened geopolitical tension. At this year’s Alianta Gala, Mihai Gâdea receives the 2025 Outstanding Journalism Award in recognition of his efforts in 2024–2025 to support Romania’s Euro-Atlantic orientation and strengthen public understanding of the democratic values shared across the transatlantic alliance.
