" In other words, Constantin Angelescu becomes the first Ambassador of Romania to the US and the leader of the first official Romanian diplomatic mission on American soil. Human Rights (and Corruption) Report in Romania
The United States Department of State released its 2016 report on Human Rights Practices (and corruption in Section 4) in Romania. "As of October 31, courts had issued 264 final convictions to 676 defendants in cases investigated by the DNA, compared with 239 final convictions against 785 defendants in the same period of 2015. Among the defendants convicted were one minister and one deputy minister, five members of parliament, 12 judges, four prosecutors, 10 mayors, six generals and one commander from the Ministry of National Defense, and 44 police officers."
