American–Romanian Partnerships to be Honored at the 8th

WASHINGTON – Alianta, a national non-profit on a mission to strengthen the American–Romanian ties, is pleased to announce its eighth annual gala and summit taking place at The Willard Hotel in Washington Wednesday, Nov. 30 – Thursday, Dec. 1.

“With Putin’s war on Ukraine, the Strategy Partnership between the U.S. and Romania has never been more important for both our countries,” said Alianta Board Chair Ambassador Jim Rosapepe (Ret.).

Alianta continues its tradition of promoting achievements of individuals and organizations that strengthen the American–Romanian partnership by bringing together people who inspire positive change through their work and bolster the strong relationship between the two countries.

During the Nov. 30 gala, NuScale will be announced as the Business Innovation Awardee, while Dr. Adrian Krainer, recipient of the Wolf Prize in Medicine, will be awarded the Scientific Excellence Award. Alianta will posthumously honor U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski with the Humanitarian Award for her work to provide medical supplies and help impoverished children in Romania.

Alianta will mark the special anniversary of its Strategic Partnership honoring two of those who shepherded its launch in 1997 – Ambassador Mircea Geoană, NATO Deputy Secretary General, and Ambassador Alfred Moses (Ret.).

The event will resume the next day with summit roundtables on Black Sea regional security, food security, energy security and visa waiver, including a lunch conversation with Slovakian Ambassador Radovan Javorcik and Moldovan Ambassador Viorel Ursu.

Alianta is also partnering with OvidiuRo, a nonprofit providing access to early education in Romania, as its charitable partner during the events. In addition, Alianta will shine a special spotlight on the county of Dolj, Romania.
