Alianța Names New Executive Director, New Cultural Projects Director
Reflecting its growth, Alianța, the four-year old Washington D.C. based organization of Americans and Romanians working for strong ties between the two countries, is pleased to announce Bill Avery as full-time Executive Director. Mr. Avery is a well-known figure in American and Romanian business circles, has lived and worked in Romania, and is the founder of the English-language media company, Business Review, published since 1998.
“Bill brings extensive business leadership and communications experience to Alianța. He has proven his ability to build up a successful business, organize prestigious events and fundraise in Bucharest, as well as success in key marketing/communications leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group (Optum) in the U.S.,” said Jim Rosapepe, Board Chairman. “We welcome his expertise as we bring Alianța to the next level.”
“I am honored to have this opportunity to support Alianța’s ambitious growth plans. I will offer the same dedication to building up Alianța as I did to my other activities related to supporting Romanian-American business and cultural links,” said Bill Avery. “As Alianța’s first full-time executive director, I am grateful for the support of the Board, and Daniela Kammrath,” he added.
“Affinity Projects” take flight
This year, expanding beyond its annual Gala, Alianța has launched several Affinity Projects to promote Romanian film festivals and Romanian language training in the US.
Former executive director Daniela Kammrath will head up these important cultural initiatives, providing continuity from her previous role.
“I accepted the role as executive director of Alianța with the commitment to advance its mission, define its role for all of us committed to the U.S./Romanian partnership, and to work on building a stronger community around the organization. After three years in this position, I am pleased we’ve made such progress towards these goals, and that Alianța is moving forward to expand the team to implement its strategy,” Ms. Kammrath said.
“I thank all the board, donors, volunteers, leaders and members of the community, the Romanian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and American Embassy in Bucharest, for their support. I look forward to working with all of them on the Romanian cultural projects we have designed for 2018. I am grateful for and humbled by your trust and support,” she added.
We welcome Bill Avery to the Alianța organization and congratulate Daniela Kammrath on accepting her new challenge!
